Today’s Greats talk Cinematography

I have done a fair amount of interviews with very talented filmmakers and one thing that I have noticed is that you have to pay VERY close attention in order to pick out some of the deeper points that are behind the words.

A new roundtable video came about recently with some of the best cinematographers in the world. I truly am not here to add to such greats but rather to make sure you don’t miss it and that you watch it from start to finish.

I think it’s crucial for everybody at all levels to spend time surrounding themselves with as much high-level filmmakers as possible and as often as possible as it slowly seeps into your way of thinking until slowly you begin to take on many of the characteristics and approaches that they take. Slowly you begin to model pieces of what you have picked up that speak to you.

Loved that part. You would think the more HDR the merrier. I would not have thought of people abusing it like they say.

Thanks for sharing! I’ve had this opened as a tab in safari for weeks and haven’t had a chance to get around to it until today. The discussion and comments about, ‘the authorship of light’ really stood out to me. We’re bombarded with ‘reality’ videos on so many different platforms, but cinema can be an opportunity to really take control of the light and tell the story through it. Not groundbreaking stuff here, but a great reminder and inspiration. Thanks again for sharing!
