Networking is the most important part of being a successful cinematographer because people hire who they like. It’s much easier when a previous client or co-worker calls you in on a gig because they know they can work “with” you than it is for you to compete for a job. The longer I work in this business I find I have fewer and fewer leads to chase as more opportunities present themselves to me. If you keep your ego in check and always give 100% regardless of the rate other people will sell your skills for you.
